  1. Kurt Vonnegut was 84 years old.
    In the novel Timequake, Vonnegut writes that his alter-ego, Kilgore Trout, (also) dies at the age of eighty-four. Kilgore dies in luxury in the Ernest Hemingway Suite of the writer’s Xanadu in the summer resort village of Point Zion, Rhode Island.
